The Pavia Lido

It was the Pavia beach par excellence, the Varazze of those who learned to swim in the river when seaside holidays were still not a mass phenomenon in Italy.

It was the Pavia beach par excellence, the Varazze of those who learned to swim in the river when seaside holidays were still not a mass phenomenon in Italy.
Today Pavia's Lido has been born again. The province has worked on the basis of a programme agreement with the region and Pavia town council to return this large green area along the banks of the Ticino river to the public for leisure and as a meeting place.
The building has been fully renovated in accordance with its traditional appearance and high enough up to avoid flood risk with a bar and restaurant, a clean and well equipped beach, changing rooms and swimming pool as well as an open air snack area and sport facilities in its five-a-side football field and beach volleyball court.
To get to the lido from the centre of Pavia and from Viale della Libertà simply cross over Ponte sul Ticino, turn right at the first traffic lights after the bridge and continue to the fourth path off to your right.
Continue to a large car park on your left and a few minutes on foot later you're there. Getting to the lido is easy. Information is available on 339-49 34 588
