Sagra della BrüsadèlaSagra della Brüsadela in Romagnese
Discover the authentic flavors of Oltrepò Pavese
On Sunday, August 24, Romagnese, a charming village in the Lombard Apennines, hosts the 29th edition of the Sagra della Brüsadela, one of the most traditional food festivals in the Oltrepò Pavese. This annual event celebrates a local specialty that has become a true symbol of the area: the Brüsadela.
The Brüsadela focaccia was born many years ago, almost by chance, when families in Romagnese used a small piece of dough to check the temperature of their wood-fired ovens. What came out was a round, slightly burnt focaccia that soon became a delicacy passed down through generations. Today, visitors can taste it in both savory form, paired with local cured meats, and in a sweet version.
From 9:30 a.m., the ovens of Romagnese will start baking the Brüsadela for everyone to enjoy. Throughout the day, the streets of the historic village will come alive with market stalls, local products, and artisan crafts, offering a perfect opportunity to explore traditions and flavors.
Entertainment will begin at 2:00 p.m. with performances by Massimo “Macho” Gallinati, Ciclomagia, and Bubble Caravan, filling the village with music, fun, and laughter. Children will also have the chance to take part in the free activity Pompieropoli, in the area near the swimming pool, where they can experience being a firefighter for a day.
The Sagra della Brüsadela in Romagnese is not just a food festival: it is a journey into the authentic traditions of Lombardy, a chance to taste unique flavors, and an opportunity to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the Oltrepò Pavese in the heart of the Italian Apennines.
