Museum of Rural Civilization and the Contemporary Age
The Peasant Museum of the "Basso Pavese" was founded in 1984 by a group of citizens from Santa Cristina and Bissone who were passionate about local history and traditions, particularly the peasant world.
The Museum's collection consists of over 2,000 tools organized by activity type. In addition to the ongoing collection and organization of tools, the Museum focuses on research and publications carried out in collaboration with enthusiasts, elementary and middle schools in the area. The collection of photographic material related to the local area and old trades continues, as well as oral testimonies, strictly in the local dialect.
The Museum is housed in a building dating back to the 1920s, which has been restored and adapted for the purpose, with over 200 square meters of exhibition space.
