On Sunday, 8 November 2026, Pietra de' Giorgi, a hilltop village in the Oltrepò Pavese area known for its vineyards, dedicates an entire day to the land and the people who work it. From 10:00 am in Piazza Unità d'Italia, the Agricultural and Rural Traditions Fair brings together farming and gardening products, vintage tractors, stalls selling local specialities, wine and grappa tastings, and, at 12:30 pm, a traditional meal featuring dishes from the local rural cuisine.

The event is organised through a collaboration between the Pro Loco of Pietra de' Giorgi, Agraria Bronese and G.A.T.T.E.O. Club, with the support of the Municipality. It is an event for farmers and enthusiasts, but also for families, curious visitors and anyone looking to spend an autumn Sunday outdoors among the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese.

From 10:00 am: agricultural products and local specialities

The fair opens at 10:00 am. Agraria Bronese will display a range of agricultural products, including plants and flowers, animal feed and, for those looking for something particularly distinctive, live poultry and other farmyard animals for direct sale.

Local producers will also have stalls selling typical products, offering visitors the opportunity to browse the market and take home some of the flavours of the area.

Vintage tractors from G.A.T.T.E.O. Club

One of the highlights of the fair is the exhibition of vintage tractors organised by G.A.T.T.E.O. Club, the Oltrepò Pavese Association of Vintage Tractor Enthusiasts.

The machines lovingly preserved by the club's members tell the story of how farming methods and agricultural machinery have changed over time. They also offer visitors of all ages a glimpse into the history of agricultural mechanics.

Local wines and grappa throughout the day

Wine and grappa produced by local producers will be on display and available for tasting throughout the day.

Pietra de' Giorgi is well known for its vineyards, and the fair provides an opportunity to taste local wines, discover the area's labels and meet the people who produce them, right in the village square.

Lunch at 12:30 pm: polenta, salamino and tripe

A fair held just a few days before Saint Martin's Day

The fair takes place only a few days before Saint Martin's Day, celebrated on 11 November. In the traditional agricultural calendar of Lombardy, this date marked the end of the farming year and the renewal of agricultural tenancy agreements, a tradition known as fare San Martino.

With the grape harvest over and the new wine resting in the cellars, the Agricultural and Rural Traditions Fair in Pietra de' Giorgi offers a simple and authentic opportunity to meet, look back on the year's work and keep the rural traditions of the Oltrepò Pavese alive.

The fair is also a good opportunity to explore Pietra de' Giorgi. The village is home to a castle with origins dating back many centuries. Its surviving crenellated tower overlooks a courtyard featuring a pointed-arch gateway and a remarkably deep well.

The surrounding landscape is characterised by the vineyards that have made the village famous. Just a few kilometres away, other Oltrepò Pavese villages can also be visited on the same day, including Cigognola, Mornico Losana, Castana and Montescano.
