San Ponzo Autumn Festival
Traditional Flavors, Music, and Fun in Valle Staffora
With the arrival of autumn, Oltrepò Pavese dresses in warm seasonal colors and gets ready to celebrate its rich food, wine, and cultural traditions. On Sunday, October 4th, the charming village of San Ponzo, nestled in the picturesque Staffora Valley, will welcome visitors and tourists for its "Festa d'Autunno" (Autumn Festival)—a day filled with local flavors, folklore, and entertainment designed for the whole family.
The event offers a journey through the authentic culinary traditions of the area. Starting at 12:00 PM, food stalls will serve delicious traditional dishes featuring warm polenta paired with gorgonzola cheese or savory local sausage. In the afternoon, from 2:00 PM onwards, the festival continues with the irresistible aroma of roasted chestnuts, warm fritters, local wine, and traditional mulled wine (vin brûlé).
Beyond the culinary highlights, a vibrant schedule of activities will animate the heart of the village. Throughout the day, the historic streets of the hamlet will host a local craft and produce market accompanied by live street music. Highlights include pony rides organized by "Terra di Confine", an engaging drum circle experience hosted by Cascina Rossago starting at 2:30 PM, and a traditional corn threshing demonstration scheduled for 4:00 PM.
