Parco del Ticino
Safeguard of Biodiversity and Environment, Quality of Life
Parco Lombardo del Ticino - the first regional park in Italy - was born in 1974 to defend the river and the several natural environments of Ticino Valley from the attacks of industrialization and from a greater urbanization. The Park has an area of over 91 thousand hectares (20,500 protected by the Natural Park) and consists of 47 Lombard municipalities, located along the stretch of the Ticino river between Lake Maggiore and the river Po - provinces of Varese, Milan and Pavia. For its protection, the Park uses a differentiated protection system for natural areas, agricultural and urban areas. The aim is to combine the needs of environmental protection with the social and economic demand of the several communities living in the area, which is one of the most densely populated areas in Italy. A difficult but possible challenge, whose must is "development yes, but sustainable".

You can visit the Park in different ways: walking, by bike, by canoe, riding…
The important thing is that you must not pollute the place. Every year more than 800.000 people visit the Park and it can make you understand how important it is.
