STAI: accessible and inclusive tourism takes centre stage at Autunno Pavese 2026
From 2 to 5 October 2026, as part of the 72nd edition of the Autunno Pavese Fair, the Palazzo Esposizioni exhibition centre in Pavia hosts Impronta STAI, the space dedicated to the S.T.A.I. project – Servizi per un Turismo Accessibile e Inclusivo (Services for Accessible and Inclusive Tourism). Combining talks, presentations and a digital exhibition, the programme shows how technology, infrastructure and employment can bring tourism within everyone’s reach, starting with Pavia and its surrounding area.
What is the S.T.A.I. project?S.T.A.I. – Servizi per un Turismo Accessibile e Inclusivo, now in its second edition, is promoted by the Provinces of Pavia and Sondrio, with the Province of Pavia as lead partner, in collaboration with the University of Pavia, the Cremona-Mantova-Pavia Chamber of Commerce and Fondazione Triulza, and with the participation of ENS, LEDHA/CRABA, UICI Lombardia, ANFFAS Lombardia and ANMIC Lombardia.
Running from 2025 to 2027, the project was launched on the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It builds on the experience of the first edition of STAI, carried out in Bergamo and Brescia between 2022 and 2024, and brings to the territories of Pavia and Sondrio an integrated vision of accessibility, understood as a driver of territorial development and social inclusion.
The project follows four lines of action. The first is the strengthening of infrastructure and services, from the Voghera-Varzi Greenway to the cycle and pedestrian paths of Val Masino and Val Tartano, in the province of Sondrio, through to an accessibility survey of Pavia’s historic university quarter. The second is digital innovation, with the “Turismo Accessibile” (“Accessible Tourism”) app, currently under development, and the “Comunicare Senza Barriere Turismo” (“Communicating Without Barriers – Tourism”) app, which is already live. The third is the inclusion of people with disabilities in the tourism workforce. The fourth is the promotion of a culture of accessibility, which includes the digital exhibition “Tech 4 All”.
The Impronta STAI programme at Autunno Pavese 2026Inside the Fair, the Impronta STAI space hosts sessions on accessible technologies, urban adaptations and inclusion in the workplace. The sessions are scheduled for Friday 2, Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October.
Friday 2 October: deafness and accessible communication
From 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm, the session “Health emergency apps: do you know them? Deafness and apps for accessible communication” presents the two project actions for which ENS is responsible. Organised by the Ente Nazionale Sordi (National Association of the Deaf) – ENS Lombardia, it is an opportunity to explore apps for health emergencies and accessible communication, with deafness at the centre of the discussion.
Sunday 4 October: Tech 4 All on show
On Sunday the programme continues with “Tech 4 All on show: technology and innovation for accessible and inclusive tourism”, organised by Fondazione Triulza ETS. Three sessions are scheduled, at 2.30 pm, 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm, each lasting one hour. At its heart is a collection of documentary videos and multimedia content showcasing technological prototypes that support accessibility in leisure, sport and tourism.
Monday 5 October: work, university and Greenway
Monday’s programme opens at 5.00 pm with “Inclusion and Employability: the STAI2 Project for Accessible Tourism and Decent Work in the Provinces of Pavia and Sondrio”, organised by ANFFAS Lombardia. In half an hour, visitors can find out about the project action, the results achieved and the opportunities for tourism operators in the area.
From 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm it is the turn of the University of Pavia with “University and the inclusive city”, devoted to measures to improve the accessibility of the university buildings in Pavia’s historic centre.
The final session, from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm, is “An accessible and inclusive Greenway”, organised by the Province of Pavia: a presentation of the measures on the Voghera-Varzi Greenway, the cycle and pedestrian route that links Voghera and Varzi along the course of the historic railway.
Why attendImpronta STAI is an opportunity for residents, tourism operators, associations and visitors to find out how Pavia and its province are working towards more accessible and inclusive hospitality: from communication apps to job opportunities in tourism, from the historic university quarter to the Voghera-Varzi Greenway. It is a way to experience Autunno Pavese not only through the flavours of the area, but also through the people and services that make a place truly open to everyone.
