Discover Mulino Ferrari
Visit and workshop with the FAI Giovani Pavia Group
On Saturday, 19 September 2026, Mulino Ferrari in Pavia opens its doors for an event dedicated to milling history and local food traditions. The FAI Giovani Pavia Group is organising a visit to the mill followed by a workshop dedicated to batarò, small flatbreads made from leavened dough that are part of the traditional cuisine of the Oltrepò Pavese area.
The event starts at 6:00 pm at Strada Villa Serafina 8, Pavia. After the visit, participants will have the opportunity to prepare the batarò and taste them freshly baked, filled with local cheeses and cured meats. Booking is required.

The visit is followed by a hands-on workshop where participants can get involved in making batarò and discover how this traditional bread is prepared.
Batarò are small flatbreads made with leavened dough, traditionally associated with the food culture of the Pavia hills and Oltrepò Pavese.

Participants will learn about the preparation of the dough and take part in making the breads themselves. Once baked, the batarò will be served warm and filled with cheeses and cured meats.
The activity combines local history and traditional cooking: first discovering the work of the mill and the production of flour, then using the dough to prepare a traditional local speciality.

The contribution is €25 for FAI members and €27 for non-members.
Young people aged 18 to 35 can also join the FAI directly at the event with a special welcome membership fee of €15, which is also available for membership renewal.
